Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Bakhtiyor Khuzhayorov was born on October 1, 1951 in Payarik district of the Samarkand region.

In 1967 he entered the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Samarkand State University and in 1972 graduated with honors. From 1972 to 1985 he worked as an engineer, researcher, senior researcher, laboratory head, sector head of the Central Asian Research and Design Institute of Oil Industry (Tashkent City). From 1985 to 1992, he worked as a senior researcher, assistant, associate professor, and at the same time scientific secretary of the Samarkand State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Since 1992 he has been working at Samarkand State University (from 1995 to 2012 as a part-time worker). Since January 2017, he has been working as the head of the department "Mathematical Modeling". From 1993 to 2012 he worked as deputy director, director of the Complex Research Institute of Regional Problems at the Samarkand division of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 2011-2012 - chairman of the division.

He is a well-known specialist in the field of subterrian hydrodynamics, mechanics of non-Newtonian systems. His research interests include filtration of non-homogeneous liquids in porous and fractured porous media, solute transport in porous and fractured porous media, anomalous filtration and solute transport, elastoplastic filtration, relaxation filtration, inverse problems of filtration and solute transport, design and analysis of oil and gas recovery processes, etc. Research results are applied into industry.

Professor B. Khuzhayorov developed several new hydrodynamic models. In particular, on the basis of a new kinetic equation, taking into account dynamic factors, a colmatage-suffusion filtration model for non-homogeneous liquids in porous media has been developed. Introducing two new physical parameters, developed a generalized filtration model. He showed that, in accordance with the values of the new parameters, colmatation and suffusion phenomena can be intensified or weakened. Unlike other models, this model for the first time takes into account the sedimentation of solid particles.

He created the theory of elastic-plastic filtration in unstable beds. This theory was successfully applied in the design of the development of deep oil reservoirs of the Fergana intermountain depression. He discovered the specific features of the propagation of unloading waves (Rakhmatulin’s waves) depending on the values of the new parameters of the developed model based on this theory. Changes in the parameters of the reservoir have different dynamics in the pressure reduction and restoration modes, and the phenomenon of non-fully recovery of the bed parameter values after the full recovery of pressure has been established. The state of reservoir stability loss is hypothetically expressed through the current pressure in the reservoir.

He built a four-phase model and, on the basis of this, theoretically substantiated the Cycling Process. This process was successfully implemented in the Kukdumalak oil reservoir. As a result of the use of the Cycling Process, a high degree of oil recovery was achieved. The theoretical foundations of the model were published in the international journal Petroleum Science and Engineering. This article is still the only one published by specialists from Uzbekistan.

He constructed a theory of relaxation filtration in fractured-porous media, which makes it possible to investigate the specific features of filtration of heavy and highly viscous liquids. On the basis of the numerical solution of the relaxation equations, the influence of the relaxation parameters on the filtration characteristics is established. “Hereditary” equations of relaxation filtration are also derived. Results for the general form of the kernel for these equations have not yet been obtained.

Based on the solution of ill-posed and inverse problems, he created a new hydrodynamic test method of oil wells. Showed the superiority of this method over other known methods.

He derived the macroscopic equations of solute transport, which does not obey the Fick’s law, which makes it possible to evaluate multi-scale relaxation phenomena. Depending on the time scale and homogenization process, the equations can have significant differences in types, and within one type - different properties.

Based on his research, he discovered the following new phenomena:

- The absence of a stationary continuation of a pure colmatage regime under certain conditions determined by the parameters of the model;

- The phenomenon of non-monotonic mass transfer in areas close to the entrance of macroscopically inhomogeneous media;

- The law of unimodal decrease of the jumps of solutions of the equations of relaxation filtration in fractured porous media. This phenomenon has not yet been observed in classical models;

- Equivalence of diffusion and kinetic approaches for the solute transport in macroscopically non-homogeneous media, i.e., by an appropriate choice of model parameters, the possibility of approximating the solutions obtained on the basis of two approaches;

- Lagging dynamics of solutions of the relaxation filtration equations in porous and fissured-porous media.

In the framework of applied research, together with oil specialists, he created the fundamental principles for the development of deep reservoirs with abnormally high pressure. In 2006-2011, for Mubarekneftegaz UDP he composed more than 10 projects for the development of oil and gas fields. All projects are now successfully implemented. In particular, he developed a technological scheme for the flooding of the Sardob reservoir. The implementation of this scheme has allowed an increase in oil production by more than 10 times. In March 2017, three of its development were adopted and implemented by the divisions of Uzbekneftegaz JSC.

B. Khuzhayorov is the author of more than 300 scientific works, including 8 monographs and one textbook. He has published over 30 articles in reputable international scientific journals abroad.

B. Khuzhayorov was the supervisor of more than 50 theses and final qualifying works, more than 30 master's theses. Under his leadership, 10 researchers defended their PhD dissertations.

B. Khuzhayorov visited scientific trips in Switzerland (1996), Germany (1997), Turkey (1998), France (1998, 2001, 2004), Italy (2001) and Malaysia (2018). He received scientific grants from NATO and the French Foreign Ministry. He has been a member of the European Society of Mechanics - EUROMECH for over 10 years. Since 1994, he has been working as a head of a number of grants for state scientific and technical programs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

B. Khuzhayorov created several new special courses for bachelor and master students of Samarkand State University and successfully teach them.
