Interview with a student of the Faculty of Sports Activities and Arts of Samarkand State University, world champion in arm wrestling Nilufar Polvonova

-Why did you choose hand-to-hand combat?

    - In a sports school opened in the neighborhood, the hand-to-hand combat coach was a girl. When I was 12 years old, I started going to sports school for this little reason. Then this sport became a part of my life. When I entered the university, I had almost no achievements. Among my classmates there were many masters of sports, world and Asian champions. Sincerely envious of the champions and striving to be like them, I have come to this day. That is why our university plays a special role in my achievements.

-What is your most memorable victory?

    - My first victory in my life - 1st place in the provincial championship. This event will stay with me for the rest of my life. At the age of 14, after winning the regional Cup, she took part in the championship of Uzbekistan and took third place. At the age of 16 he became the champion of Uzbekistan. In May of this year, she took part in the World Championship in Bukhara, where she took 1st place. And in general, each of my victories will be memorable and unforgettable for me.

-What is the secret of your success?

-Support! Before every competition, my father calls and tells me not to think about winning or losing. The most important thing is to be stronger than your opponent and participate beautifully. I only think about it during my fights. Also an important factor is patience, strong will and support from loved ones. It's hard to succeed without them.

    - How do you perceive defeat?

    - Of course, I admit it. It is alien to me to be sad, depressed. Somewhere I could be wrong, that it was. For me, defeat is a concept that means that I have to work on myself again and that I am still there until I reach the finish line that I hoped for.

    -What is sport for you?

    - Sport is my whole life. No need for another definition...

    - Have you ever thought about leaving the sport?

    - At one of the competitions, I was seriously injured. It was very difficult for my loved ones to see how I felt. My mother used to sit on top of me at night and cry incessantly. After recovery, I was strictly forbidden to play sports. But, as if my life without sports had become colorless, I had no passion or interest in anything. Seeing this, my father talked to my mother and convinced me to take up sports, and I returned to sports.

    What has sport given you?

    - First of all, it gave me confidence in myself. Sport taught me how to live, became the meaning of my life. It is the kind of training that will not give you any results if you do not give it attention and time, do not make an effort. It's true that when the time comes, you won't have time for family and friends, but every success you achieve can make up for it.

-What are your plans for the future?

    - These days I am preparing to participate in the World Championship, which is scheduled for September in Russia. My main goal is to take part in it and raise the flag of our country. My biggest dream is to become an Olympic champion and world champion, worthily defending the honor of our country in the future, to become the reason for the sound of our anthem on world arenas, on the podiums of victory.
