Rector of Samarkand State University, scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Rustam Khalmuradov signed a long-term agreement on strategic cooperation with the President of the Japanese Tottori University, Professor Hiromtsu Nakajima, aimed at further strengthening cooperation. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Japan Mukhsinhuzha Abdurakhmonov took part in the solemn ceremony.

      By special recognition of our Japanese partners, the historic reforms carried out by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the field of education and science in Uzbekistan deserve high praise. In this regard, scientists from the Japan Tottori University expressed their readiness to support us. The first step in this direction has been taken. A representative office of Tottori University will be opened at Samarkand State University.

    The main activity of this representative office is focused on the transfer, testing and widespread introduction to Uzbekistan of new innovative developments and knowledge developed by scientists from Tottori University on the development of agriculture in arid regions.

     The representative office of Tottori University in SamSU is implementing developments that will serve the efficient use of dry pastures, which occupy more than 50 percent of the territory of Uzbekistan, the development of animal husbandry in these territories, ensuring food security and thereby improving the standard of living of the population.

     The International Arid Land Research Center at Tottori University and its leading scientists are directly involved in realizing the goals and objectives of this mission.

     It should be noted that this international center is Japan's only internationally recognized center for the efficient use of arid regions on a scientific basis, especially for the development of agriculture in saline and dry regions.

      Also, this representative office plans to further expand mutual cooperation not only in the agricultural direction, but also in the fields of engineering and information technology, and transfer new knowledge in this regard to our country.

      The prestigious representative office that will be established at Samarkand State University will not only develop cooperation between Tottori University and Samarkand State University, but will also provide an opportunity to establish relationships with other prestigious universities in Japan.
