On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance and Honor on May 9, representatives of the regional khokimiyat, military, law enforcement agencies, heads of state and public organizations, labor veterans, and youth gathered at the Memory Square in Samarkand.

     Khokim of the region Erkinjon Turdimov and rector of Samarkand State University, scientist, member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Rustam Khalmuradov laid flowers at the statue of the Sorrowful Mother and honored the memory of those who gave their lives for today's peaceful days.

    More than 152,000 Samarkand residents took part in World War II, which caused great suffering to humanity. 73,000 of them were lucky enough to return to their homeland.

     Also, spiritual and educational events dedicated to the Day of Memory and Honor are organized in all districts and cities of our region. Veterans of war and labor veterans were visited.
