President Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the activities of the Biochemical Institute of Samarkand State University.
Today more than 25 thousand students study at the university. The Institute of Agrobiotechnology and Food Security, Institute of Engineering Physics, Research Institute of Turkology and Biochemical Institute are organized in the structure of the university.
The Biochemical Institute was established this year on the basis of the University's faculties of Biology and Chemistry. After large-scale construction works, seven new buildings have been erected for the Institute. These are 2 academic buildings for more than a thousand seats, a meeting hall, a greenhouse, a vivarium, a vivarium - laboratory of biological research, a herbarium - laboratory of botanical research, as well as a student canteen.
It is noteworthy that researchers from both fields of science have been able to conduct research in one place. This brings to a new level the work on mutual integration of biological and chemical innovations.
The head of state inspected the conditions in classrooms, greenhouses and scientific laboratories. He talked to professors and lecturers.
The researchers told about plans to create new types of antitumor drugs with selective action based on chemical transformation of cancer drugs.
The President gave instructions on organizing foreign internships for the Institute's staff, developing pharmaceutical and chemical products, creating new varieties of cotton, grapes and wheat.
Today the Biochemical Institute trains 2.8 thousand students in 8 fields of education. In general, the university has 12 scientific and 67 educational laboratories.
