Students of the Faculty of Geography and Ecology of Samarkand State University studied general geology, structural geology, mineralogy, crystallography, paleontology and underwent field practice in stratigraphy.

     In practice, specialists of the industry and the faculty of the department were acquainted with natural objects of special scientific and cultural value, paleontological, lithological and biological museums, information was given on exogenous geological processes occurring in the mountains, namely, landslides and mountain structures and lahimah passing through the mountains.

     In addition, future geologists will learn about the Lower Devonian Ems boundary of the Zinzilbon section, the Madmon and Khodzhakurgan suites, its fauna and flora, geological layers, structures, landslides and their occurrence, and information about the history was given. Students gained skills in using the geological compass and JGS devices in the field and applying them to geological maps.

     Explanatory work was also carried out by the faculty of the department and employees of the Gissar geological exploration expedition about the activities of the enterprise and ore and Nomadan deposits in Uzbekistan. Samples of minerals and rocks were presented in the museum of the enterprise.

     At the end of the practice, the students examined the historical monuments of the city of Shakhrisabz.
