The “Short school etymological dictionary” was published by the head of the department of the Uzbek language and literature of Samarkand State University, Professor Ibodullo Mirzaev and associate professors Maftuna Ubaydullaeva and Mamura Narzieva.

      "Short School Etymological Dictionary" was created as a preliminary experiment on Uzbek linguistics by scientists of the Department of Uzbek Language and Literature of SamSU. The dictionary contains about a thousand words and phrases related to the fields of science, technology, art, culture, religion, which are widely used in modern school textbooks. Readers who are familiar with the explanation of terms related to these areas will gain skills that they can apply to their dozens of terms. The advantage of this dictionary is that it provides an explanation of the terms found in each subject area, as well as historical background information that remains in the mind of the reader for a long time. The dictionary contains etymology and explanations of terms related to mother tongue, mathematics, biology, music, history, law and similar subjects taught at school. The footnotes are enriched with examples. The dictionary is intended for schoolchildren and teachers, students of higher educational institutions, faculty and all interested persons.
