Today is the birthday of Khotam Umurov, professor at Samarkand State University, Doctor of Philology, Honored Mentor of Youth of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

      The scientist, who has been fruitfully working at Samarkand State University for many years, is well known to our people as a sensitive literary critic and a jeweler of words.

      During his scientific and pedagogical activities, he trained 14 candidates and 5 doctors of science. A number of textbooks, monographs, teaching aids, brochures, educational and methodological recommendations, and literary critical articles have been published.

      He extensively researched the life and work of Sharof Rashidov, Hamid Olimjon, Sarvar Azimov, Zulfiyakhanim, Orifjon Ikramov, and his services in transmitting their spiritual heritage to our people deserve special recognition.
