It gives me great pleasure to cordially congratulate the Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan, Professor Inom Majidov, as well as all the team of teachers and students on the 105th anniversary of the foundation of this glorious university.
Your University, as one of the principal institutions of higher learning of our country, has been training specialists for over a century in different spheres of science and national economy of the country.
National University is truly a temple of science for thousands of Uzbek scholars, and the progressive development of Uzbek science in the twentieth century is inconceivable without the role of this university.
A scientific and educational dialogue has always existed between the National University of Uzbekistan and Samarkand State University. Our institutions are the flagships of Uzbekistan's higher education, setting high standards for the country's institutions of higher learning.  We are proud that these centers of knowledge have learned and are learning from each other jointly and consistently implementing scientific projects as a basis of long-term cooperation in various spheres of science, education and upbringing of modern youth.
I would like to mention three scientists who have made a significant contribution to the development of our universities.  They are academicians Yolqin Turakulov, Tolib Muminov and Shavkat Alimov who have worked in their time at both Samarkand State University and National University of Uzbekistan on different positions. The glory of our educational institutions is known far beyond the borders of Uzbekistan. We are justly proud of their work as rector of Samarkand State University.
While I was preparing this congratulation, I talked on the phone with my friend and colleague, Professor Eduard Yakubov, president of Holon University of Technology in Israel. He stressed that he had studied at NUUz and was proud of it. This is just a drop in the ocean. There are many famous people among the alumni of the National University.
Anniversaries are usually an opportunity to celebrate the work of our ancestors, to take stock of our current activities, and to make plans for the future.
I would like once again to congratulate the faculty, students and staff of the National University of Uzbekistan. I wish happiness and prosperity...

Rustam Khalmuradov,
Rector of Samarkand State University,

Honored Scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan,
