Biography:

2002 – 2005: Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Mathematics, and English Language from Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.
2005 – 2007: Master’s degree in Geography from Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, with a dissertation on the "Geographical Analysis of the Development of the Labor Force and Service Centers in Shikohabad (Firozabad)", Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India.
2010 – 2016: PhD in Geography from the Faculty of International Studies, Aligarh Muslim University, with a focus on "Water Resources Management in Saudi Arabia", Aligarh, India.
2016 – 2018: Assistant Professor at Amar Singh College, Lucknow, BSR, CCS University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India.
2018 – 2019: Research Scientist (GAT) at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India, and the Indian Council of Social Science Research, Government of India.
2019 – 2023: Senior Research Scientist (GAT) at the Central Waqf Council of India.
2020 – 2021: PhD candidate in Geoinformatics at Indira Gandhi National University, New Delhi, India.
2023 – Present: Director of the Scientific and Educational Center for Geoinformation Systems at Samarkand State University, named after Sharof Rashidov.

Main Section

Uzbekistan is one of the fastest-growing economies, and to maintain its growth rate, the geospatial domain must be studied and utilized. Today, the geospatial domain has gained significant international momentum, and these technologies are increasingly popular in Central Asia and Uzbekistan's higher educational institutions.

The Scientific and Educational Center for Geoinformation Systems is a leading center for studying the geospatial domain in spatial sciences, geophysical exploration, data science, and analytics, with a goal of providing cutting-edge education and conducting unparalleled quality research.

The Center is based on national and international cooperation, establishing joint academic and research programs with partners such as the National Institute of Technology, Raipur, the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, and others. The Center also operates based on theoretical and practical knowledge to enhance the primary needs of the industry.

Goal: To develop quality education in the geospatial field in Uzbekistan.

Director:

Professor Mohammad Suhail, PhD, Director of the Scientific and Educational Center for Geoinformation Systems at Samarkand State University, is a renowned scholar. M. Suhail is recognized for his active and creative research work, independent functioning, and adherence to strict deadlines. His academic interests are wide-ranging, including remote sensing, geoinformatics, digital image processing, geospatial modeling, resource management, water resources, hydrogeology, geodesy, and statistical modeling. Professor M. Suhail is a professor at Samarkand State University and also conducts scientific activities at Metharat University in Thailand. Professor M. Suhail led the project management department consisting of over 300 specialists at the Central Waqf Council of India (GAT), where he served as a senior research scientist.

Having worked as a geography professor at Amar Singh College, Lucknow, BSR, CCS University, Meerut, M. Suhail brings extensive teaching experience. He has taught courses at the master's and doctoral levels covering subjects such as Geographic Information Systems, Structural Geology, Geological Mapping, Basics of Topography, and various aspects of Western Asian Geography. His academic career is enriched by comprehensive training in remote sensing and GIS courses organized by prestigious institutions like the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) of India. His scholarly contributions include authored/edited books, research articles, and book chapters. Among his notable works are "Migration, Diaspora, and Transnationalism – South Asian Experiences" (Springer, Singapore), "Geopolitics of Western Asia – Regional Issues in Global Perspective" (Vishvagyan Prakashan), and "Assessment of Waterways in Wheat Cultivation in Uttar Pradesh" (Springer, Netherlands). Professor M. Suhail has actively participated in research projects, including a collaborative international project assessing the impact of urban heat islands and land surface temperature in Noida, India, using Landsat satellite data (funded by Al-Majma University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). He has participated in over 75 national and international conferences, seminars, symposia, and workshops. Additionally, he organized climate change modeling programs (Cordex) under the auspices of the United Nations. His research and educational approach focuses on advancing geospatial sciences and nurturing the next generation of scholars and researchers.
