Life at University
The Republic of Uzbekistan and its inhabitants are gentle and highly cooperative. Most of the time, they cooperate with foreign students, faculties, and travelers. They have a good sense of hospitality. However, it needs to take care of certain things, if you are traveling first time.

Please remember two important emergency phone numbers in case of an emergency. One is“002” for the Police Department and the other is “001 ” for the Fire Department. These calls are free in Uzbekistan and can be made from mobile phones.
24-hour duty policemen are assigned to ensure the security of foreign people which are located near stations and various other areas. They patrol the neighborhood, handle theft and other criminal reports, take care of traffic accidents and lost and found items, and give directions.

Wifi Services:
Wifi services are available at campuses, buildings, hostels, and administrative blocks. You can use “Open” (campus free Wi-Fi service) in the student lounges on campus. For more information, you can contact the advisors and administrative divisions of each building.
University Library (Libraries):
All libraries of Samarkand State University are accessible to students, and faculties after showing a valid identity card. External visitors can also access the library facilities with a guest log-in system. For this purpose, they can contact the international support center.
Sports and Fitness Facilities:
All students and faculties are allowed to visit sports and the gym without any pre-registration. However, they should carry a valid identity card with them. This facility is also available to guests and visitors by filling up an application form or by contacting to the host.
