        Mamadiyar Khaitov, candidate of agricultural sciences, associate professor. He has been working as the head of the department since 2023. In 1993, he defended his thesis on the topic “Efficiency of phosphorus-containing fertilizers in the structure of vegetable-feed crop rotation in the conditions of the Zerafshan Valley.” In 1999 he received the title of associate professor.

More than 120 scientific papers have been published. Author of 3 textbooks, 3 teaching aids, 2 monographs, 1 letter of recommendation, 1 rationalization proposal and more than 15 teaching aids.

    Davlat Normurodov, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor. Since 2020 he has been working at Samarkand State University. In 2005, he defended his PhD thesis on the topic “The influence of agrotechnical measures on the yield and quality of seeds of instant potato varieties grown on a virus-free basis,” and in 2017 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic “Agrobiological foundations of virus-free potato selection.”

   More than 200 scientific papers have been published. Author of 2 textbooks, 6 teaching aids, 2 monographs.

The Department of Horticulture, Vegetable Growing, and Viticulture

was established in June 2020.
Currently, the department employs 7 professors and teachers. The department's academic potential stands at 85.0%.

The staff includes 1 Doctor of Science, Professor, and 5 Candidates of Agricultural Sciences (Associate Professors).

Main research topic of the department:
"Development of modern technologies for the breeding, seed production, cultivation, and primary processing of fruits, vegetables, melons, grapes, and potatoes under the conditions of the Zarafshan Valley."

To enhance scientific potential, special attention is given to supporting doctoral candidates and ensuring the timely defense of dissertations, utilizing the expertise of the academic staff.

Key objectives of the department:

  • Selecting talented undergraduate and graduate students for advanced academic training.

  • Increasing the number of doctoral candidates and independent researchers.

  • Ensuring the participation of department staff in grants and research projects.

  • Concluding funded contracts with agricultural enterprises.

  • Involving students in scientific research activities.

The department has published 8 textbooks and 6 educational manuals.
Necessary conditions have been created for DSc, PhD, and master’s thesis defenses.

• Graduate students are being trained based on research conducted within the department’s main theme.
• Scientific researchers are provided with facilities to conduct fieldwork and process necessary documents.
• Cooperation agreements have been established with the Vegetable, Melon, and Potato Research Institute, the Horticulture, Viticulture, and Winemaking Research Institute in Samarkand, as well as with farming and cluster enterprises.
• Graduate students carry out research in collaboration with these partners.

The teaching workload of the academic staff is allocated based on their position, academic degree, and title, and is officially approved.

Their teaching, research, and mentoring duties are included in their individual work plans and are fully carried out.

The fulfillment of individual work plans is regularly monitored by the head of department, academic affairs office, dean, and deputy deans.

Seven faculty members regularly engage in spiritual and educational work with their student groups.
An approved plan for such activities exists, and work is being carried out accordingly.

The department team actively participates in university events and also fulfills duties in faculty and student dormitory shifts.
