He carried out research work on the geographical foundations of the formation of modern landscapes of Kyzylkum, the rational use of natural resources of the desert for its sustainable development, intensification of the desertification process, stratification of geomassifs, geoecological zoning and optimization of environmentally hazardous areas. Morphological units of landscapes of the Kyzylkum desert with a complex structure (types of landscape, terrain and tract) are identified and classified; medium- and large-scale maps of landscapes of the Kyzylkum desert are compiled and their general characteristics are given. The causes of the desertification process have been identified, its factors have been indicated, and fragmentary maps of desertification hotspots have been compiled. The environmental situation in Kyzylkum was analyzed, zoning work was carried out for the first time in a geoecological direction, and practical recommendations were developed aimed at optimizing the geoecological situation in arid landscapes.
