On 2 December 2024, the Central Asian Research Centre for Regulation of Artificial Intelligence at Samarkand State University, named after Sh. Rashidov, held a webinar "Regulation of Artificial Intelligence - 2024". At the webinar, Irina Filipova, head of the research centre, spoke about the European Union Regulation on Artificial Intelligence adopted in 2024 and other documents related to regulation in this area.

After the lecture, the webinar participants, including students from Maqsut Narikbayev University (Astana, Kazakhstan), the Russian-Tajik Slavic University (Dushanbe, Tajikistan) and Sh. Rashidov Samarkand State University, were invited to discuss controversial issues, resulting in a debate on the topic: What should be the regulation of artificial intelligence: “hard” as in the European Union or “soft”?

The webinar and debate were held for the implementation of the Erasmus+Jean Monnet project ‘Artificial Intelligence Regulation: European Approach for Central Asia’ (Project 101124510 – AIREA-CA – ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH).
