The polar bear is a rare creature rarely found in nature. Hunting has been banned since 1956. Since 1976 it has been listed in the International Red Book. The length of his body is 2-3, the height at the withers is 1.5 meters, and the weight is 800 kg. The coat is white, sometimes with a lemon or gray tint, and lives near floating glaciers and the shores of the Arctic Ocean. Well adapted to low temperatures, fat makes up about 40% of body weight.

    An exhibit of a polar bear is kept in the Zoological Museum of Samarkand State University. This exhibit was brought from Moscow State University during World War II in 1941-1942. The polar bear originally lived in the Moscow Zoo. Its length is about 3 meters, and its height is about 1.5 meters, and its weight is about 600-700 kg. was. In 1934, he died in the same zoo for unknown reasons. Bakhodir Mukhammadiev, a responsible employee of the SamSU Zoological Museum, said that 15-20 years ago a polar bear lived in the Tashkent Zoo, whose skin was not exhibited after his death. The exhibit of a polar bear in the Zoological Museum of SamSU may be not only the only one in Uzbekistan, but also the only one in Central Asia. Currently, this exhibit is considered one of the most expensive and rare exhibits here.
