- Samarkand has been the cradle of knowledge and world civilization since time immemorial, - says Professor Tony Chan, president of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, - Abu Ali ibn Sina, Khorezmi, Beruni, among the thinkers of Central Asia. Those who rose to the level of genius of their time, like Farghani, are mentioned with respect. The scientific heritage left by them is still the focus of attention of our scientists. The Saudi Arabian University of Science and Technology (KAUST) aims at the sustainable development of relevant fields by establishing international cooperation. Today, students from about 20 countries of the world are studying at our university. During our visit to Samarkand State University, we discussed the issues of creating opportunities for Uzbek students to study at KAUST. I think that the graduates and researchers of Samarkand State University, by studying at the Saudi Arabian University of Science and Technology, in addition to becoming real experts in their field, conduct research on topics that are relevant around the world, and create new ideas in the world of science. opens up horizons.

    Tony Chan, the head of the delegation visiting Samarkand State University from Saudi Arabia, President of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, touched upon these issues during the mutual negotiations. Rector of Samarkand State University, scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rustam Kholmurodov received dignitaries and conducted extended negotiations and agreements in relevant fields.

    - The Uzbek people know Saudi Arabia as an Islamic state and the center of Islamic culture, - says the Rector of Samarkand State University Rustam Kholmurodov, - Science and education are developing day by day in this country, as in every country. Oriental science goes back thousands of years ago to "Baytul-hikma", which laid the foundation stone for the development of world science. Central Asian and Arab ulama have always been like-minded and knowledgeable in mutual relations. We are pleased to be taking the first steps in re-establishing such historic ties at this time. Samarkand State University has sufficient strength and scientific basis in the field of conducting research in fundamental sciences. At the same time, it is important to exchange experience in the international arena in areas such as energy problems, efficient use of water, elimination of climate change and prevention of desertification. Our cooperation in this regard will create the basis for sustainable development of the world through science. In a word: Samarkand State University is interested in establishing cooperation relations with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.

    In addition, Rustam Kholmurodov has ensured international cooperation in a number of areas necessary for the sustainable development of Uzbekistan today: energy, food safety, environmental protection, agriculture and water management, in this regard, KAUST put forward a number of proposals on the issues of raising the scientific potential of Samarkand State University, creating conditions for the participation of professors and teachers in the preparation of candidates of science, doctors, and sending SamDU researchers to Saudi Arabia. According to the agreements, in the coming days, a proposal was put forward to organize an exhibition at the Samarkand State University, which will highlight the directions of the Saudi Arabian Science and Technology Research University and the research and educational processes conducted at the university.
