Samarkand State University hosted an international scientific and practical conference on the topic "Modern geographical research: theory, practice, innovation."
The conference was attended by more than 200 scientists from 20 countries, such as the USA, Russia, Italy, Belarus, Japan, Romania, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, India.
At the beginning of the conference, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Hakim Khushvaktov read out a congratulatory speech by Rustam Khalmuradov, Rector of Samarkand State University, scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.
Over the centuries, people have invented new ways to use natural resources to meet their needs. This process continues today. Modern geography is a science that studies global climatic and environmental changes and the influence of natural and anthropogenic factors on them based on complex mathematical models. In recent years, as in other areas, innovations have been made in geography.
    - Sharing new theories with innovation is the basis for the development of science. Participation in the conference of visiting scientists from around the world will be an important step for further cooperation in the field of geographical research, - says Alexander Danshin, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor of Moscow State University. - Moscow State University and Samarkand State University have long-standing ties. I believe that after this conference there will be great innovations in the field of geography.
     - Today's conference is devoted to such problems as theoretical approaches in modern geographical research, their systematization, analysis and determination of ways to effectively implement research results, - says Deputy Chairman of the Geographical Society of Uzbekistan, Professor of NUUz Fazliddin Hikmatov. - In the field of modern geography, research that meets the requirements of today, and issues of their implementation are considered relevant.
The international conference discussed such topics as "Application of GIS technologies and innovations in natural geographic research", "Applied research, methods and innovations in socio-economic geography", "Innovative technologies in the use and assessment of water resources", "The importance of innovative approaches in ecology and environmental monitoring”, “The role of innovations in improving the skills of teaching staff and ensuring the effectiveness of education”.
