About the Department of Physiology and Biochemistry of Humans and Animals

The Department of Human and Animal Physiology of Samarkand State University was established in 1934. When the department was created, V. Popov worked as the head of the department.

In 1944, this department and the department of biochemistry were merged and received the name of human and animal physiology and biochemistry, and the department was headed by Professor P. Faktorovich.

Until 1970, the department was headed by Professor Bakhrom Yusupovich Khamrakulov. During this period, such well-known professors as Chianurov, Mamaeva, Ataullakhanov, Abdullaeva, Kadyrova, Isakov, Bagoev, A.Sh. Biochemistry of trace elements.

In 1970-1972, the famous academician Y.Kh. Turakulov, who worked as the rector of the university.

In 1972-1993 prof. M. Rish continued to lead the department and led the research work on the topic “The use of microelements in the development of animal husbandry in the biochemical regions of Uzbekistan” and organized the problem laboratory “Biochemistry of microelements”. Under the guidance of a well-known scientist, 6 doctors of science and about 60 candidates of science were trained.

In 1993-1998 the department was headed by Professor Y. Nuritdinov. During this period, he conducted scientific research on the topic "The mechanism of neuropeptide regulation of higher nervous activity."

In 1998, the scientific and pedagogical potential of the department increased even more due to the accession to the department of the former Samarkand State Pedagogical Institute "Human Anatomy and Physiology".

In 1999-2005, the department was headed by Professor M. Oralov. During this period, scientific research was carried out at the department on the topic “Evolutionary, ecological-physiological and biochemical foundations of animal biology”, and they were also defended by A. Radjabov (supervisor prof. M.A. Rish), B. Bozorov (supervisor prof. Yu. Nuritdinov), G. Dushanova (supervisor Prof. N. Khayitova).

In 2005, the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology was merged with the Department and renamed the Department of Physiology, Genetics and Biochemistry.

In 2005-2011, associate professor M.G. Safin was the head of the department. When he headed the department, together with Professor M. Urolov, research work was carried out on the international grant project No. 31.04. Also during this period, i.e. in 2009, a graduate student of the department M. Ioselevich successfully defended his PhD thesis. Over the years, the department organized a master's program in 3 specialties (5A420105-Human and Animal Physiology, 5A420109-Biochemistry, 5A420110-Biotechnology).

To date, the department has 1 doctor of science, professor, 2 candidates of science, professors, 3 candidates of science, associate professor, 4 PhD and 3 assistants.

Currently, the department cooperates with SamSTU, SamVMBI, NUUz, FarSU, AnSU, ToshPSU, GulSU, BukhSU, KarSU, TerSU, Navoi and Jizzakh Pedagogical Universities, as well as the Research Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Chemistry of Plant Substances. Cooperation agreements have been concluded with the relevant laboratories of the Research Institute of Biophysics and Biochemistry at ZMU, the Institute of Parasitology named after V.I. Isaeva, the Research Institute of Ecology of Caracollic and Deserts, the Research Institute of Veterinary Science, and within the framework of the concluded agreements, the scientific staff of the department, consisting of professors and teachers, doctoral students, undergraduates, conduct their research work, together with the American company "VetVittles", a branch of the Federal Research Center livestock them. Academician L. Ernst, All-Russian Research Institute of Physiology, Biochemistry and Nutrition of Animals - Research Institute and All-Russian Research Institute of Poultry Farming of the Russian Academy of Sciences, relevant departments and scientific laboratories of the South Kazakhstan Medical Academy. Currently, the head of the company "VetVittles", Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor E. Gurman works at the department.

To date, professors and teachers of the department have created more than 50 textbooks, manuals, lecture texts, teaching aids, collections and instructions. They also published about 20 monographs, about 900 scientific articles and more than 150 popular science articles.

Today, the department conducts scientific research on the topic "Morpho-biochemical and physiological aspects of increasing the productivity of farm animals in the Zeravshan oasis (middle course)".

In the future, it is planned to increase the scientific potential of the department by selecting talented bachelors and masters and continuing the basic doctoral studies, doctoral studies (DSc) in the relevant specialties, strengthening cooperation ties with national and foreign leading universities, research institutes and research centers, increasing the weight of research work performed at the department, building up research activities at the international and national levels, the implementation of innovative projects, on the basis of business contracts, it is planned to conduct research work.
