A delegation from Cardiff University of Great Britain visited Samarkand State University. In the meeting with Mukhtar Nosirov, head of the international cooperation department of SamSU, the issues of establishing academic cooperation and strengthening existing relations between the two universities were discussed.

    - Visiting Samarkand itself was a great honor for us, - says Professor Urfan Khalik, First Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff University. - This ancient city has its own history and educational system. I think that Samarkand State University has a great place in the cultural heritage of the old city. The university is one of the oldest educational institutions of the East. Together with SamDU, we intend to establish mutual cooperation mainly in the areas of education such as history, economy and business. You have a lot of historical monuments and preserved traditions, which is very convenient for our historians to work together. Also, considering that SamDU is one of the rapidly developing universities of Uzbekistan, we are very pleased to cooperate with you.

As part of the meeting, representatives of the two universities exchanged souvenirs as a mutual symbol of cooperation. After that, the representatives of Cardiff University got acquainted with the unique finds and exhibits of the Museum of Archeology and Zoology of Samarkand State University.

For information, Cardiff University was founded in 1883. It ranks 150th in the "QS World University Rankings 2022" ranking. Among the Top-20 universities in Great Britain.
