New year has come...
The new year has come. Another year has passed, the successes and victories achieved are inscribed in the pages of the past. What are the opinions of professors and teachers of Samarkand State University on the results of the year? What plans are expected to be implemented in 2023...
Toshpulat Rajabov, Associate Professor, Director of the Institute of Agrobiotechnologies and Food Security, Samarkand State University:
- The past year 2022 has become a special period in the activities of the Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology and Food Security. Because our institute was founded this year. A rapid movement towards strengthening the scientific activity of the institute has begun. Last year, the Agricultural Biotechnology Transfer Research Laboratory was established. In order to strengthen the material and technical base of the laboratory, modern equipment was purchased in the amount of about 3 billion soums.
We managed to conclude cooperation agreements with 14 large agricultural clusters and agricultural production enterprises of the Samarkand region on the organization of professional practices for students in production organizations. Such cooperation is characterized by the fact that it serves to deepen the integration of science and practice at the institute.
Last year, a number of works were carried out at the institute to establish cooperation with prestigious foreign higher educational institutions. In particular, we managed to establish cooperation with such universities as Bologna in Italy, Tottori in Japan, Szeged in Hungary, universities of agriculture and life sciences. At the moment, preparations are underway to send students to these universities. As part of this collaboration, Professor Ferenc Lantos, from the University of Szeged in Hungary, began working as Deputy Director of the Institute for Scientific Affairs and International Cooperation. Currently, negotiations are underway between the institute and a number of Hungarian universities and industrial enterprises in the agricultural sector. I will not be mistaken if I say that the Center for the Promotion of Education in Hungarian Universities established at the institute was the first step in this direction.
An agreement was concluded with the organization JD East for the training and internship of students of the institute in agricultural organizations in Germany. As part of this agreement, it is planned that in the summer months of 2023, about 50 students will improve their qualifications in Germany.
Профессора, преподаватели, докторанты и магистры института приняли активное участие в организации садов, созданных по инициативе руководства Самаркандского государственного университета в Кошрабатском и Нурабадском районах в рамках реализации Президентского национального проекта «Зеленое пространство».
Last year was also an important period in my personal career. I defended my doctoral dissertation. I received a membership in the International Society of Pastrological Scholars USA. Two of my students received a grant from the Icelandic International Land Restoration Program (GRO-LRT) under the auspices of UNESCO. One of them (Abdubakir Kushbokov) returned 6 months after research in Iceland. Another student (Shukhrat Valiev) is due to visit Iceland in March-September 2023.
It is expected that in 2023, important innovations will appear in the activities of the institute. It is planned to expand relations with foreign universities in the field of international cooperation. Also, together with the Deputy Director of the Institute for Scientific Work and International Cooperation, Professor Ferenc Lantos, a total of about 40 students from the Institute of Biology, Geography and Ecology, Chemistry and Agrobiotechnology and Food Safety of Samarkand State University took part in the Hungarian program "Stipendium Hungaricum" preparatory work for studying in the magistracy and doctoral studies in Hungary. In this regard, it is expected that 10 students of the institute will be sent to Hungarian higher educational institutions for a master's degree and 2 for doctoral studies, and 25 students will be sent for practice in agricultural production organizations in Germany.
In addition, in 2023, it is planned to build a modern student hostel for 400 people on the territory of the institute.
Currently, in cooperation with the Japanese University of Tottori, work has begun on the creation of a branch of the Center for Research and Education in Dry Regions (IPDRE) of this university at the Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology and Food Safety. To this end, we are planning to organize a trip to Tottori University in February 2023.
I wish happiness, health and peace to all our compatriots, including the staff and students of Samarkand State University in 2023. Happy, prosperous and blessed New Year! I wish our students strength and courage to reach new heights of knowledge. May everyone have great successes and great victories in scientific and creative activities. May the New Year be one of the best for each of us.
Dilfuza Dzhurakulova, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of History, Samarkand State University:
- Last year, significant innovations took place at the Faculty of History. In particular, the faculty's relations with prestigious international universities have expanded somewhat. We signed an agreement between the Italian University of Bologna and the Department of Archeology on joint expeditions. Within the framework of this agreement, scientists and researchers of the SamSU Department of Archeology conducted archaeological research together with archaeologists from the University of Bologna. During the international conference "Sultan Yildirim Boyazid and Amir Temur" we signed a number of contracts and agreements with Ankara University Yildirim Boyazid. We have agreements to establish effective cooperation with the Free Universities of Bamberg and Berlin in Germany. Separately, it should be noted the achievements of students of the Faculty of History in the natural sciences. Among our students there are participants in science olympiads, holders of well-known state scholarships. Aspiring young people also achieve high results in the field of sports.
I wish good health to all selfless employees, teachers and students of our beloved university in the new year. May they see the fruits of their efforts on the path of knowledge. I wish them new successes, family peace and blessings in their scientific activities.
Leyla Belialova, PhD in Biology, Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Life Safety of the Faculty of Geography and Ecology of Samarkand State University, was included in the list of "100 most influential women in the world" compiled by BBS in 2018.
- Last year my career was full of new successes. In December, I was selected among 17 women from Uzbekistan at the 17 Faces of the Movement photo exhibition organized by the UN. This photo exhibition is an international project that collects portraits of women who have managed to break stereotypes around the world. Saida Mirziyoyeva personally participated in the exhibition "17 Faces of the Movement", held in Tashkent, and noted that the activities of the heroes of the exhibition will serve as an example for others to change society for the better. I was very happy with this recognition. It has been a big boost in my current career. We have big plans and goals for 2023. In September, I will participate in the final part of this exhibition, which will be held in Geneva. In scientific activities, she intends to participate in new international projects on the protection of birds and ecology. Also, together with the student club "Flamingo", created at the faculty, we plan to go on new expeditions and conduct effective research on the protection of birds. The first of these studies will be expeditions to the Kattakurgan reservoir together with club members in accordance with the program for monitoring the biodiversity of waterfowl, organized at the initiative of the Bird Conservation Society of Uzbekistan. In addition, we plan to organize an environmental project by the end of the year that will bring together the majority of students.
In the new year, I wish the dearest university staff and all our compatriots the fulfillment of the best wishes. May our country be peaceful and our skies clear.
