Samarkand State University is hosting an international conference on the topic “Opportunities for increasing stability in conditions of scarcity of transboundary water resources - the example of Central Asia.”
This event was organized in collaboration with Samarkand State University, the US Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, and the Universities of California and Oklahoma.
The main goal of the conference is to ensure long-term social stability through the friendly management of transboundary water resources. It is also planned to discuss the problems of using transboundary waters and science-based solutions, as well as strengthen cooperation.
About 50 foreign scientists from the USA, Japan, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan took part in the prestigious conference and discussed issues related to this conference. Among them are representatives of the International Water Research Institute, the World Bank, UNESCO, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the United Nations Development Program. From a number of US universities: California, Oklahoma, Texas, Tulane, Oregon, Boise State University, California University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, German Bonn, Jordan Institute of Science and Technology, Japanese Kyoto and Tottori, Royal Scientific University of Saudi Arabia, Gumilyov University of Kazakhstan , Central Asian-American University of Kyrgyzstan, Scientific and Technical Innovation Center of Tajikistan.
Lack of information on transboundary water resources, achievements and shortcomings in water resource modeling and forecasting, water resources and their use in various industries, research organizations involved in the study of water resources and their problems were reviewed by scientists. The conference works in such areas as the impact of water shortages on the social sphere and the weakening of the natural environment, the role of school and higher education in the rational use of water resources, and the development of optimal reforms and strategies.
