February 27, 2027 – Washington, D.C. & Samarkand, Uzbekistan

    In a significant step toward international academic collaboration, Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST), USA, and Samarkand State University (SamSU), Uzbekistan, held an online meeting on February 27, 2027. The discussion focused on establishing academic and research partnerships between the two institutions.

    Representing SamSU were Prof. Muhtor Nasirov, Head, Department for International Relations and Prof. Sazzad Hossain, Visiting Professor. The delegation from WUST included Engr. Abubokor Hanip, Chairman and Chancellor; Dr. Hasan Karabuk, President; Dr. Jeffry Pirim, Vice President of Education; and Dr. Touhid Bhuiyan, Professor and Assistant Director of the School of IT.

    The meeting, held as part of WUST’s global collaboration efforts, explored opportunities to establish joint and dual-degree programs in Information Technology, with a particular focus on Cybersecurity. To formalize the partnership, both institutions agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will be executed digitally.

    Additionally, the discussion highlighted key areas of collaboration, including:

  • Joint research initiatives and faculty collaborations
  • Organizing international conferences and a summer school on Cybersecurity
  • Student and faculty exchange programs

    At the conclusion of the meeting, officials from both universities extended invitations for in-person visits to further strengthen ties and facilitate future initiatives. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in fostering global academic excellence and innovation.
