International seminar: “Central Asian manuscripts in the Mongol and Temurian empires (XIII-XV centuries)”
At the Faculty of History, Samarkand State University, in cooperation with the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the Research Institute of Iranian Studies and Central Asia.
At the conference, the famous mystic scholar Devin DeWeese, professor at Indiana University in the United States, spoke on “Mongol Conquest and Knowledge Transfer in Central Asia: Manuscript Book Culture, the Intersection of Oral and Written Information, XIII-XV Centuries”. The report presented new information on the activities and scientific heritage of scholars who acted during the Mongol invasion, based on unique manuscript sources.
The seminar was also addressed by famous scientists of Austrian Academy of Sciences, Saxon Academy of Sciences of Germany, Cambridge, Oxford, Dutch, Leiden Universities, Munich University of Germany, St. Andrews University of Scotland, Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, Imam Bukhari International Research Center.
For information, this conference kicked off on May 27 at the Abu Rayhan Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies. The event featured a round table of domestic and foreign scholars on “Manuscripts and International Cooperation”, and some manuscripts were exhibited under the slogan “Manuscripts will show and tell”.
The conference will continue on May 29-30 at the Imam Bukhari International Research Center, divided into 8 sections.
