Samarkand State University closely cooperates with the most prestigious world rating agencies such as Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), Times Higher Education. As a result, Samarkand State University was one of the first universities in Uzbekistan to receive 5-star status in the QS Stars rating.

The QS Stars system was created in 2009 by the British international rating agency QS, one of the three largest rating agencies in the world, which assesses higher education institutions around the world to help universities promote their strengths, identify weaknesses and improve.

QS Stars rates universities in 13 categories: quality of education, graduate employability, research, internationalization, academic development, opportunities, online learning, innovation, arts and culture, inclusivity, social responsibility, environmental impact and chosen specialization. To enter this ranking, universities select a minimum of 8 majors and provide information.

The main purpose of the rating system is to give prospective students an additional tool for choosing a university and to provide more detailed information about individual universities.

QS Company started the assessment of Samarkand State University on November 1, 2023, the results were announced in 2024. Data on 8 areas of activity and more than 50 indicators were analyzed in detail. According to the company, the university scored 780 points out of the maximum possible 1000 points in the participating indicators (the minimum score required to become a 5-star university is 700 points).

For 3 out of 4 available indicators of the category of quality of education, including the degree of student satisfaction with the quality of education and conditions created in the university, the indicator of continuing education of graduates, the university received the maximum score.

According to the results of surveys conducted by QS among employers globally, Samarkand State University was recognized by 158 employers as providing quality staff. More than 90 percent of university graduates find permanent employment within 24 months of graduation. Samarkand State University has established an employment service “Career Center”. As a result, the university received a 5-star rating in terms of graduate employment.

In recent years, SamSU has built about 20 structures: academic buildings, student dormitories, sports facilities, scientific laboratories, and an IT center. This was also recognized by the QS rating agency. It has been awarded 5 stars in the category of amenities created at the university.

In the category of the chosen field of study, the field of Physics was selected for evaluation. With 15.8 applicants applying for each physics seat, 94% of students graduated on time and 94.1% were satisfied with the quality of education.

Another important indicator of the rating is social responsibility. The fact that 79 percent of SamSU students are from Samarkand serves to develop the region's human capital. Besides, 17 hectares of gardens have been planted in Nurabad and Kushrabad districts on SamSU's initiative.

QS stars rating system helps universities to attract foreign students in certain priority areas of study.

Accreditation of the quality of education at a university by such a globally recognized organization as QS allows it to develop its brand and offer academic programs that meet the needs of the market.
