The scientific potential of the department is associated with the activities of the following scientific schools. A great contribution to the training of teachers in the field of geometry of Samarkand University was made by Professor Ahmed Emir-Asan Khatipov, who was invited to Samarkand in 1944. Professor A.E. Khatipov, along with writing textbooks on various sections of geometry, effectively worked on the history of medieval mathematics in Central Asia. His scientific works on this topic played an important role in familiarizing the general public with the mathematical work of medieval oriental scientists. |

A scientist from St. Petersburg B. F. Skubenko also made a great contribution to the scientific activity of the department. B. F. Skubenko conducted research on the geometric theory of numbers with his students and created a unique scientific school on the geometry of numbers in Samarkand. Scientific research in this direction was led by Professor Kh. N. Narzullaev. On the initiative of the founders of this scientific school, in 1972 an international conference on number theory was held at SamSU. Continuing scientific research in this direction, members of the department Istamov A., Akhmedov N., Mukhsinov Kh., Akramov U.A., Khurramov A., Rozimuradov Kh. defended their dissertations. Kh. N. Narzullaev defended his doctoral dissertation in 1993. |
