History of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics

The Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics is one of the historical departments of Samarkand State University. In 1946, on the initiative of Professor I.S. Kukles, the Department of Theoretical Mechanics was created, and in 1950 - the Department of Mechanics. I.S. Kukles, who worked at the department, received the title of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan, Academician of the Republic of Uzbekistan (1960).

Over the years, I.S. Kukles, Kh. Rakhimov, I. Shirov, N. Tubasov, M. Gukyamukhov, I. Dorfman, A. Yutundzhi, B. Usmanov, L. Kucherenko, E. Rudenko, worked at the Department of Theoretical Mechanics, A. Matvienko, T. Nurov, Zh. Kayumov, O. Dusmatov, R. Indiaminov, A. Tilavov, F. Amirkulova, F. Sattorov, M. Rakhmatov.

Academician T.Shirinkulov, professors F.Badalov, K.Bobomurodov, Kh.Toraev, A.Latipov, Zh.Akilov, B.Khudzhayorov, Kh.Khudoynazarov, O.Dusmatov and several candidates of sciences became scientists of the Department of Mechanics.

In 1977-1995, the department was headed by Associate Professor T. Nurov, in 1995-2013 - Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Kh. Khudoynazarov, in 2013-2018 - Associate Professor Sh. Berdiev. Since 2018, Professor Kh. Khudoynazarov has been appointed head of the department. Currently there are 10 professors working at the department.

International cooperation: Since the creation of the department, its employees regularly make scientific trips to universities in foreign countries. This tradition continues today. Employees of the department conduct scientific research together with scientists from the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Moscow State University, Tomsk State University, the University of California (USA), and the University of Auckland (New Zealand).

Employees of the department use experimental-theoretical, new, improved methods that provide accurate information about the stress-strain state of the structure and its elements, especially in local zones of violation of the regularity of the structure of the material, based on taking into account certain physical and mechanical characteristics of materials, development and implementation, optimal placement reinforcement and effective design methods in planar and spatial systems, a cylindrical layer interacting with the surrounding deformable medium, internal and external ideal and viscous fluids, shell and struts relative to the axis. is engaged in the creation of theories of symmetric and asymmetric vibrations.
