"In a word, I would say forward...”

Interview with Abdubakir Koshbakov, lecturer of the Department of plant physiology and microbiology of Samarkand State University, researcher of the Icelandic Agricultural University
- I participate in the program of the GRO-LRT (Lamd restoration, restoration training), organized at the University of Agriculture of Iceland, under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iceland and the UNESCO organization, " says Abdubakir Koshbakov.- This program is organized annually mainly for researchers from Asian and African countries. Before me, the director of the Institute of Agrobiotechnologies and food safety of Samarkand State University, Associate Professor Tashpulat Rajabov and Akbar Ahmedov participated. Previous participants on the dish will be able to recommend the queue. My candidate was recommended by Tashpulat Rajabov, and the organizers of the program in an online conversation checked my level of language proficiency and scientific potential.
- On what topic is your research?
- Currently, 19 representatives from 8 countries (Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mangolia, Uganda, Malawi, Lesotho, Ghana, Nigeria) participate in the GRO-LRT program. The main objective of this program is to combat the crisis of land areas taking place in developing countries, situations of soil erosion, promote the management of efficient and sustainable use of land, help professionals and educational institutions in the reconstruction of land areas in crisis, by increasing their scientific potential.
This program is 6 months old, the first three months are theoretical, and the last three months are practical. In the practical part of the program, I am conducting a study on the topic “The identification of land potential by seyed banks under shyep grazing in the Icyelandic highlands”. The main goal of this is the study of modern international research methods and its application in our country.
Unfortunately, the lands of our country today are no exception to various crisis situations. Especially our pasture areas, which are almost half the size of the territory of our country, are experiencing various degrees of environmental crisis. Considering that pastures are an integral part of nature ecosystems, their share in the livestock industry and the country's gross production, it is extremely important that we actively participate in the study of the state of pastures and their restoration. Accordingly, in this program, I am conducting a scientific study on the topic “assessment of the potential of pastures in the grazing regime at different levels through the soil seed bank (on the example of Icelandic pastures)”. I work in the soil Laboratory of the Icelandic Agricultural University greenhouse and the Icelandic soil protection organization (Soil Conversation Servicye of Island), together with my scientific supervisor, professor Isabel c Barrio. It is extremely important to determine the amount of soil seed bank in pastures and the degree of their fertility. Because only the available seed resources determine the future potential of these pastures and are considered one of the most important factors in the recovery of Natural Pastures in crisis.
The main objective of the study is to identify seed resources in pasture soils that have been in crisis to varying degrees and to study the possibility of re-establishing the pastures themselves in a state comparable to the cover of existing plants. Also, modern knowledge and research on the areas of pasture recovery and their sustainable management consists in the analysis of methods and their widespread use in future work on the restoration of the pastures of Uzbekistan.
- What new research is being carried out in the field of Agriculture at the Icelandic Agricultural University? Which of them do you think should be introduced in Uzbekistan?
-In this state, due to the short growing season for agricultural plants, attention is paid to the development of greenhouse agriculture. In this case, mainly hydroponics and growing under different rays of light, and in addition, growing plants in a greenhouse in several layers will help to get a lot of harvest on a small earth surface. I think this method is effective.
-What are the educational processes of this university, the areas of research differ from Samsu?
-At the University of Iceland, first of all, teachers are required to have qualifications and friendly relations with students. Classes are held by specialists in this particular field. Each training is explained on the example of new scientific works and articles made. In addition, teachers ' e-mail is always open to students.
-If you also tell about the university library.
-This university building consists mainly of 3 campuses. The university library is located on the main campus. We have created an online library and the conditions for the use of all books and resources in it. This will give you the opportunity to find the necessary information without difficulty in a short time.
- Your plans for the future.
- Plans are big in the future. The continuation of my scientific work on this topic is to contribute to the restoration work of pastures in Uzbekistan in crisis and the development of our university until I can. Also, together with my scientific leader Tashpulat Rajabov, I would like to contribute to the Prevention of the degradation of the pastures of our country and conduct research at the doctoral stage of prestigious universities abroad.
-What advice and recommendations would you give to young researchers who want to continue their research abroad?
- In a word, I would say forward. Because today, scientific research and science technologies are very developed in foreign educational institutions. I believe that the study of these modern technologies and methodologies of our youth will become of great importance in the inclusion of our country among the developed countries.
