An oriental pearl, ancient and always beautiful, a statue of the earth, Samarkand is again in the eyes of the whole world today. Our city hosts the 22nd summit of one of the most influential and prestigious international structures of the planet - the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

    It is expected that the leaders of 15 states, representatives of more than a dozen international organizations, leading world experts and analysts, and political scientists will take part in the summit.

    At the suggestion of the head of state, the President of the People's Republic of China and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, together with participation in the summit, will pay a state visit to our country.

    As part of the event, bilateral meetings of the heads of state will be held.

    Holding such a large-scale, major international event in Samarkand, which occupies an important place in the history of our national statehood and today is becoming the arena of international dialogue, is certainly an indisputable pride and pride for the inhabitants of our entire province.

    Preparations for this summit did not begin yesterday or today, but with the fact that the President of our country put forward the initiative to hold the SCO summit in 2022 in Samarkand. For this, the infrastructure of the city of Samarkand was completely updated, new roads and bridges, avenues were built. More than a dozen streets have been reconstructed, such as Rudaki, Ibn Sina, Bustonsaray, Afrosiyob, Shakhi Zinda, Sadriddin Aini, Registan, Panjikent, Firdowsi, Dahbed. Street master Umar Dzhurakulov was overhauled. Residential buildings and other objects around these streets were also rebuilt in harmony with national and modern architecture. A new modern terminal of Samarkand International Airport has been built.

    A vivid expression of the creative potential of our people was the international tourist center "The Great Silk Road", built on the idea and initiative of the President on more than 250 hectares of open territory around the rowing canal. Recognized as unsurpassed not only in our country, but also in Central Asia, the complex of hotels and congress centers that meet international standards, the Eternal City complex, reflecting the history, culture, traditions and values ​​of our people, and many other buildings have become the decoration of Samarkand today . At present, the architectural complex associated with the name of our great grandfather muhaddith Imam Bukhari is being rebuilt in accordance with the position and potential of the great imam in the Islamic world.

    Millions of unique trees and shrubs, flowers were planted on these buildings, squares and avenues, around the streets, thanks to which today Samarkand has acquired a more beautiful look than ever before.

    Builders and engineers, designers, architects and specialists, artisans and craftsmen, gardeners not only from Samarkand, but also from different regions of the country took part in this construction and improvement. Taking this opportunity, we express our gratitude to the heads of ministries and departments, who are at the forefront of construction and improvement, to our selfless compatriots and foreign partners.

    At present, we also thank the responsible persons and employees of various industries who arrived in Samarkand to hold the SCO summit at a high level and provide us with close support!

    In the article of our President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, published in the press before the SCO summit, it was especially noted that AZAL, a long time ago, Samarkand is a place where various ideas and knowledge “boil”, where the common goals of mankind are embodied - to live peacefully and comfortably, to realize their strength and ability to live a happy life.
