The goal of the grant is to multiply spineless blackberry plant saplings in Uzbekistan and establish plantations. It also aims to supply them to local farmers and communities.
- In folk medicine, the unripe fruit of the blackberry plant is used to treat gout, while the syrup made from its leaves is used to treat sore throats, says Noila Jumaqulova. - In addition, its fruit, leaves, young shoots, flowers, and roots are also used. In ancient Greece, 2000 years ago, its fruit was used as a medicinal agent to quench thirst, lower body temperature, and help the body recover after various illnesses. It improves the functioning of the gastrointestinal system, strengthens the nervous system, and regulates sleep. Antioxidants help improve thinking ability, memory, and assist in the removal of harmful toxins from the body. In the food industry, it is used in the production of various candies, pleasant liqueurs, non-alcoholic beverages, and lemonades. The monkey-puzzle plant has healing properties at various stages of its development, that is, ripe fruits perform a transportation function, while green fruits, on the other hand, have digestive properties. Therefore, consuming the monkey-puzzle plant as food is beneficial.
