The event is attended by scientists from a number of major higher education institutions and research centers in China, including Xinjiang University of Physics and Chemical Technology, Hong Kong Institute of Science and Technology, Guangdong Institute of Technology, Shanghai Institute of Chinese Traditional Medicine, China Medical University and Kunming Institute of Botany. 

 This symposium is traditionally held every two years.

 The conference was organized in cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Central Asian Medicines Research and Development Center, Shenzhen Laboratories of Food and Medical Bioresources and Xinjiang Institute of Wild Medicinal Plant Resources Utilization, Institute of Biochemistry of Samarkand State University.

 The main purpose of the symposium is to exchange experience on the world achievements in the field of food medicinal plants pharmaceutics.

    Rector of Samarkand State University, scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, member of the Senate of Oliy Majlis Rustam Khalmuradov opened the ceremony and wished success to the work of the symposium:

    - Samarkand State University has established close cooperation ties with leading higher education institutions of the People's Republic of China in a number of areas of science, culture and education. At the symposium we discuss the possibilities of opening joint laboratories and interdisciplinary research centers. In order to develop cooperation, we have established the Chinese Research Center at Samarkand State University. The fact that Chinese scientists have made great achievements in the field of pharmaceutics and that most of the medicinal plants of Eurasian flora are found in Central Asia unites scientists from the two countries with a common goal. Today's symposium serves to further strengthen mutual cooperation between Uzbekistan and the People's Republic of China under the slogan "One Place, One Road".

 - В 2010 году пройдет международный симпозиум «Растительные лекарственные растительные ресурсы и биологически активные ассоциации». Шесть престижных конференций пройдут в таких городах Китая, как Урумчи, Наньцзи, Шэньчжэнь, Гонконг и Пекин. Он проводится в зарубежной стране впервые. Не зря он проводится в Самарканде. После этого Самаркандский государственный университет собирается провести международный симпозиум. Он имеет хорошую материально-техническую базу и современные лаборатории. В этом я еще раз убедился после нашего посещения СамГУ.

 Хуршид Бозоров, профессор Самаркандского государственного университета:

 - Основная цель симпозиума – обмен информацией о кулинарных и лекарственных растениях и почвах, их компонентах, биологической активности и использовании. Оно также включает в себя обсуждение местных и нелокальных ресурсов. Симпозиум проходит на высоком уровне. Ценную информацию предоставляют участники. В рамках рамочного симпозиума были разработаны планы продолжения научной работы, ориентации и обучения студентов в Китае и СамГУ. Кроме того, рассматривались предложения отправить выпускников СамГУ на обучение в Китае.
