Samarkand State University was visited by a delegation headed by Dr. Zoltan Kovacs, Head of the International Relations Department of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The guests were received by Akmal Akhatov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, and Toshpulot Radjabov, Director of the Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology and Food Security of SamSU.

      The main purpose of the visit is to strengthen the ties of international and scientific cooperation, to establish personnel exchange.

      At the meeting, issues of attracting SamSU students to the licorice root processing enterprise under construction in Samarkand in cooperation with Uzbekistan and Hungary, improving their skills and employment as specialists were discussed. Also, in order to train qualified personnel in the agricultural sector, special attention was paid to expanding the opportunities for SamSU students to study at the University of Agriculture and Life Sciences in Hungary under the Stipendium Hungaricum program.

     The Institute of Agricultural Biotechnologies and Food Safety of SamSU has created new courses in agricultural education, in particular, horticultural engineering, agrobiotechnology, agroengineering, food safety and quality engineering. To develop these educational areas on the basis of advanced educational standards, professors and teachers from Hungarian higher educational institutions are involved in teaching on the basis of "block teaching", that is, individual modules.

      The cooperation of the parties will greatly help in the training of qualified specialists in the modern agricultural sector and thus provide the agricultural industry with modern personnel.
