Japanese Tottori University and Samarkand State University: new aspects of cooperation
The delegation headed by the rector of Samarkand State University, member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, scientist of the Republic of Uzbekistan Rustam Khalmuradov is currently in Japan.
The main purpose of the visit is to establish cooperation with the Japanese Tottori University in the international and scientific fields, to establish faculty and student exchanges, to study technologies in the agricultural sector in the regions and develop effective ways to apply them in the conditions of Uzbekistan. As an alternative, it is planned to hold negotiations and agreements on the opening of the Tottori University Center at SamSU, which is considered the only one in Japan for the study of arid regions. Based on the experience of Japan, this center will study modern technologies in the agricultural sector in arid regions and transfer them to Uzbekistan.
During the visit, Rustam Khalmuradov met with Professor Tsujimoto Hisashi, Director of the International Center for Arid Regions Studies at Tottori University, and held talks on strengthening international cooperation. He also got acquainted with the activities and laboratories of the center.
Ranked 59th among 800 universities in Japan, Tottori University mainly trains personnel in the fields of biology, chemistry, earth sciences, medicine and engineering. Internships for students are held in 67 universities in 23 countries of the world.
Today Tottori University has 20 research laboratories. The International Center for Education and Research in the Arid Regions, which implements globally important educational and scientific and technological projects around the world, is responsible for the development of research on important topics related to the geosciences in different parts of the world. Today the center implements long-term projects in 11 countries of the world.
