A creative meeting was organized at Samarkand State University...

A literary event was organized at Samarkand State University to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Ismat Ko‘chiyev, a member of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan and Belarus and a recipient of the "Do‘stlik" (Friendship) Order.
The event was attended by the rector of Samarkand State University, academician, and member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Rustam Kholmurodov; director of the Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA) and senator, honored journalist of Uzbekistan, Abdusaid Kochimov; adviser to the chairman of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan, Salim Ashurov; editor-in-chief of the Sharq Yulduzi magazine, Sirojiddin Rauf; editor-in-chief of Zarafshon and Samarkandskiy Vestnik newspapers, Farmon Toshev; and poet Abdug‘afur Mamatov.
Speakers at the event reflected on the poet’s life and creative work, and recited samples of his poetry.
Ismat Ko‘chiyev writes in both Uzbek and Russian. He is the author of works such as Sharaf Rashidov – The Victor and Sharaf Rashidov – The Creator in Russian.
His two books, Jannat Rayhonlari (The Basil of Paradise) and Ulug‘lar Chorbog‘i (The Garden of the Greats), have been published in Uzbek.
His poetry collection Babur. Skvoz' veka (Babur. Through the Centuries) explores the role of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur’s literary legacy in world history.
Social poetry holds a special place in Ismat Ko‘chiyev's creative work. His epics Pyat shagov v vechnost (Five Steps to Eternity) and Triumf Geydara Aliyeva (The Triumph of Heydar Aliyev) have been published as separate books. Five Steps to Eternity was dedicated to the 580th anniversary of the great Uzbek thinker and poet Alisher Navoi.
